The feast of the lady of mt. Carmel has returned after a near 20 year absence from the community. The historic south end of springfield, once a vibrant, at times dramatic, and very flavorful part of new england is home to a community of italians that date back many generations.
Today, Springfield does not shy away from its mafia heritage, rather it works to improve the infamous REPUTATION it held for so long. The Feast of the lady of Mt. Carmel is bringing together a newer, younger generation of italians once disconnected from their roots. The Feast is also drawing in new faces, cultures, and blending traditions.
